The Open Base At First

Dmitri Young used to play for the Washington Nationals. On a trip to Burlington, Vermont I went to watch the big game in town – Vermont Lake Monsters entertaining the Tri-City Valley Cats in a single A game. Who should I see at the plate than the unmistakable figure of Dmitri Young. What on earth was he doing there?

At that time I felt that a fellow large ‘un should be the inspiration for a blog that I wanted to set up. I saw him at RFK last year, and I have now seen him at Centennial Field in Burlington. A hero for the ages.

May this be the start. The start of a future.

Seven and Seven Eighths has lift off. Me and Dmitri in the house.
